I'll recommend IBM, Asus or Toshiba laptops, you cant miss with those guys.
The price is high but you at least know why.

I bought Acer notebook like 1,5 y ago and I cant say there was any trouble.
It was a good bargain and everything is still in order.

Well, I'm reeding notebook reviews on the forums lately and all I can say
that Dell is a bad choice.

When you are buying a notebook there is only two facts that you have to
take in to consideration.
Your personal needs and how fat your wallet is.
For ordinary user like your self I would recommend some cheap notebook
like Toshiba, Samsung or Acer.
Main specs should be 15'', not below 30GB, at least 2 Ghz, modem and
Lan, about 256 MB RAM,
DVD/CDRW Combo and graphic card which means no shared memory.
Price not higher then $1500

its working like swiss watch, no kidding, Toshiba rules.

I have Compaq Evo 1020N, 15", 512 MB,
on 2,4 GHz, CD burner, 40 GHz, DVD, total media, modem, 32 graphic
card, newest WinXP Professional and I can tell you that its more that
