Fashion Designers

Fashion is one of the most exciting industries in the world. People are constantly travelling across the globe to Paris and Italy and other exotic locations to check out the newest fashions that are hitting the streets. People love to look at gorgeous clothes and the models that wear them. It’s an obsession for many that leads to finding out the newest and greatest trends in fashion. People also love to find out the stories behind the designers that make these fabulous clothes, accessories, and scents. Below are a few of today’s top designers – their stories and of course, some of the newest lines that they have released.

Tommy Hilfiger

The story of Tommy Hilfiger is indeed an interesting one. While he was in high school in 1969, he immediately began his fashion and retail career with one hundred and fifty dollars and twenty pairs of bell-bottom jeans. It wasn't long after this that he opened his first retail store, People's Place. He soon began to create and design clothes that his customers wanted but could not find anywhere else.

It was then in 1979 that Hilfilger moved to New York City and aggressively pursued his career in fashion design. He revealed his first signature collection in 1985 and has since expanded to offer men's wear, women's wear, jeans, children's wear, fragrance, and home collections. The fashion industry has not overlooked Hilfiger and has given him many awards. GQ named him Man of the Year as well he has won many FiFi Awards, one of the most prestigious awards in the fragrance industry. In 1995 the Council of Fashion Design in America made him Men's Wear Designer of the Year. He also does a lot of work with organizations such as D.A.R.E.

And Hilfiger's latest designers for the summer of 2007 are sure to keep him at the top of the fashion game. His crochet tanks, plaid Saturday blazers, ripstop jackets, and indigo cigarette pants are just a few of the newest styles available for women from Hilfiger. And he also hasn't forgotten the men in his new collection, offering them a variety of polo shirts, rugby shirts, and classic slip-on sneakers.
